Music play an impotent role in our life, it always with us whether time is good or bad. Our Bollywood music director compose songs for every mood and situations. They compose romantic songs as well as sad songs. Music is also part of festival, many songs also based on our festival. Time to time music changed but its malady never less. Here are top 10 music album of 90s.

1. Aashiqui (1990)

When we talk about 90s bollywood movies songs, first name comes in mind is Aashiqui. This album holds maximum number of audio cassatas sales (around 15,000,000 units). Nadeem-Shravan is the music director and Sameer is the lyricist of Aashiqui. Aashiqui nominated in four category in filmfare award and won all four. Nadeem Shravan won Best Music Director, Kumar Sanu won Best Male Playback Singer for “Ab tere Bin jee le ge hum”. Anuradha Paudwal won best Female Playback Singer and Sameer won Best Lyricist for “Nazar Ke Saamne”. Aashiqui made under Mahesh Bhatt direction.

2. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? (1994)

Hum Aaapke Hai Kaun is a family drama with great music compose by Raamlaxman and Lyrics by Dev kohli and Ravinder Rawal. Salmaan Khan and Madhuri Dixit the main cast of movie. It is remake of Nadiya ke paar. It was the first Hindi film to gross over 100 crore. Sooraj R. Barjatya is the director of Hum Aapke Hia Kaun. Movie nominated in 14 category and won in 7, but not got any award in music category.

3. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is romantic drama by young director Aaditya Chopra srating with Shah rukh khan and kajal. Music composed by Jatin lalit and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. We all have remember its tag line Came fall in love..!, This film hold the record at the time for the most Filmfare awards won by a single film with ten.

4. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is the directorial debut of young Karan Johar. Starting with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajal and Rani Mukharjee. Salmaan Khan in guest appearance. Jatin Lalit is the music director and lyrics by Sameer create a big magic. All songs of the movie is very melodious. Title track “Kuch Kuch hota hai..” singed by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. Koi mil gaya… meta dil gaya.. songs based on collage function was so good. The song “Sajan jee ghar aaye…” featured on Salmaan Khan. Due to Salmaan, audiences welcomed this songs with whistle.

5. Raja Hindustani (1996)

Raja Hindustani made under direction of Dharmesh Darshan. Amir Khan and Karishma Kapoor in lead role. It inspired by Jab Jab Phool Khile starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda.
It is another great music by composed by Nadeem Shravan and lyrics by Sammer. The soundtrack album has sold 1 crore (10 million) copies. Film won five film fare awards including Nadeem Shravam for music and Udit Narayan chosen for Best Male Playback Award.

6. Khamoshi : the Musical (1996)

Khamoshi is the musical drama of Sanjay Leela Bansaali. It is Bhansali’s directorial debut. Starting with Salmaan Khan and Manisha Koirala. All songs of the movie was very lovely, like Bahon Ki armiyan, Aankhon Mein kya, Yeh Dil Sun raha Hai, Aaj Mein Upar.Jatin Lalit compose songs and penned by great Majrooh Sultanpuri . Kavita Krisnamurti got her first film fare award for Aaj Mai Upar…Aasma Niche….

7. Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)

The movie based on college championship with love story under direction of Mansoor Khan. The film stars Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Mamik Singh, Deepak Tijori & Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the lead roles. Music composed by Jatin Lalit and lyrics were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Pehla Nasha songs featured in slow motion. Yahaan Ke Hum Sikander songs still famous in college program.


8. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

The film stars Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Ajay Devgan. The music was composed by Ismail Darbar with lyrics by Mehboob. It received nine Filmfare Awards nominations in the music and singing categories and produced some winners as well including Best Male Playback – Udit Narayan for “Chand Chupa Badal Mein”. Tadap Tadap Ke by k.k also very famous. Ismail Darbar received National Film Award for Best Music Direction.

9. Dil se (1998)

Shah Rukh khan and Manihs Koirala in lead role. A.R. Rahmaan composed the music and lyrics written by Gulzar. The song “Chaiyya Chaiyya” became especially popular, and was featured as one of the top 10 songs of all-time in an international poll conducted by BBC World Service. A. R. Rahman received Best Music Director award, Gulzar received Best Lyricist for “Chaiyya Chaiyya, Sukhwinder Singh received “. Best Male Playback for the same song.

10. Roja (1992)

Roja is dubbed movie, but its sweetness never less. A.R. Rahman debuted as a film composer with this film. P.K. Misra penned songs of Hindi version. Songs like ‘Yeh Haseen Wadiyan’, ‘Dil hai Chota sa Choti Si Asha’, Bharat humko jaan se pyara hai and ‘Roja Jaaneman’. Movie directed by Mani Ratnam. It stars Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in the lead roles.
