Diwali, also called Deepawali, is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. It is the festival of light celebrated on Amavasya of the month kartika. It signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

Before Diwali people clean their home and renovate it with new paint. Decorate their house with electric light, diyas and other decoration product. Some people make Rangoli out site of main gate of their home. On the Diwali night first offer puja to goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh. After Puja lighting crackers and eat sweets and exchange gifts with others.

Diwali is imported shopping period, before two days of Diwali, Dhanteras came. On this day Hindu people generally buy some precious metals on this day.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram along with Sita and Laxman, returned back to Ayodhya after fourteen years. From that time Hindu people celebrate this days as Diwali. Several cities around the world organize Diwali events and celebrations.After six days of Diwali in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern part of Uttar Pradesh celebrate chhath puja.
