Diwali, also called Deepawali, is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. It is the festival of light celebrated on Amavasya of the month kartika. It signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

Diwali is imported shopping period, before two days of Diwali, Dhanteras came. On this day Hindu people generally buy some precious metals on this day.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram along with Sita and Laxman, returned back to Ayodhya after fourteen years. From that time Hindu people celebrate this days as Diwali.
